The infuriating thing about Texas is that areas like Austin and Houston are quite Progressive and contain most of the populations, but counties that hold 458 people get exponentially more representation in local government, and they have more swing in promoting their people to the state ruling bodies. These smaller towns are all mini Christian Nationalist Jurisdictions who aren't afraid because the state government has their back.
