I usually try to stay in my own lane and not disagree with other writers views on here, but I am making an exception in this case. While I dont blame all Christians for the hate and intolerance towards marginalized groups, I do blame, the leadership and spokes people of the faith. I also do blame the people who dont speak out against the ways in which their churches discriminate. You say its a small number. I conducted a survey.

I am transgender. There at 19 christian churches in my little town of 18, 000 people. I called all of them to see if I (as a trans-gendered person) could come to their church on Sunday. Here are my results

8- said just “no, or they would not be comfortable with that”

5 — didn't answer the phone and failed to return my call.

1 — Told me I could visit for a Sunday, but I would have to renounce my ways and wear non-feminine clothing.

1- One must of thought it was a prank call because they hung up on me.

1 — One said no, but suggested an LGBTQ friendly church 75 miles away.

3- Told me I could come in Mens clothing, and would understand that it was to work towards something like conversion therapy or Salvation and renouncing my ways.

Not one welcome. I think perhaps intolerance is alive and well in the Christian Church. As for the other way around. I was raised in the church for 15 years. I was on track to be a pastor. when the church bounced my out on my head and I came out trans. NO ONE in the LGBTQ community hated me cause I believed in God. Of course I dont now, not because of the acts of his followers but because being on my own thinking for myself has allowed me to consider the bigger picture of reality, humanity, and the Universe…its “42” for all those keeping score.

I would encourage you in the quiet of your own mind, question those who are in control in your faith. Question the beliefs your churches hold outside of what your scripture says. It is ok to question those things that arent in the bible that are taught from the pulpit. (I have a degree in Christian Theology I know)
